Susan Faludi is an American journalist whose work has appeared in many publications, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. In 1991 she has won a Pulitzer Prize for her report on the leveraged buyout and layoffs at Safeway, a large supermarket chain in the US. Her first book Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women (1991) is a contemporary bestseller that captures the sudden wave of anti-feminism sweeping through the Reagan presidency in the 1980s, and analyzes the patterns of historical counterattacks toward women¡¯s movements throughout the first half of the 20th century. The book won the National Book Critics Circle Award for General Nonfiction as soon as it was published, and the Korean translation was finally published last December.
