Fleur Pellerin is a French politician of Korean descent who has served at various government posts such as Minister of SME & Digital Economy, Minister of Trade and Tourism, and Minister of Culture and Communications. At age 16, she passed the baccalaureate and a year later, entered Essec, a prestigious school in France. Afterwards, she studied at Paris Institute of Political Studies and École nationale d'administration. In the early 2000s, she was the examining officer and adviser to the French Court of Auditors. She also worked in New York, Iraq and Geneva as an external auditor for the U.N. In 2007, she headed the 21st Century Club, an association working to promote diversity and equal opportunity. Once famous for being a "minister who dresses well," Pellerin is a female leader extraordinaire who shows her own color.

After working as a civic activist for 20 years, Park Won-soon ran for Seoul mayor as the unified opposition candidate in 2011, and was elected as the capital¡¯s 35th mayor. After his inauguration, he strived to establish an economic model of mutual existence and prosperity based on a civil society by promoting a shared economy and cooperatives. Reelected in 2014, Mayor Park has promoted the role of women in society through catchphrases such as "A City Where Women Are Happy" and "A City Where Women Are Safe." He is also trying to improve women¡¯s rights by creating better workplaces for them and minimizing career inconveniences they might face. Mayor Park has received positive responses for reflecting the opinions of women collected through on/off-line means in his policies.

Yoonsun Cho
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism
After working as an attorney at Korea¡¯s leading law firm Kim & Chang and vice president of Citibank Korea, Cho Yoon-sun in 2002 entered politics by becoming the spokeswoman for the Grand National Party (GNP). She later joined the 18th National Assembly as a legislator and served as Minister of Gender Equality and Family. In the 2002 presidential election in Korea, she was co-spokesperson for the GNP¡¯s Presidential Election Committee. She has achieved quite a few firsts in her career, being Korea¡¯s first female spokesperson for a conservative party, the first woman to chair the State Affairs Committee and the youngest minister. In 2010, she was selected as the "top National Assembly member whom People want to work with." In this forum, she will co-host a conversation with former French cabinet minister Fleur Pellerin, who will give the keynote speech.

This so-called alpha girl started a venture company while working as a teacher. After graduating with a bachelor¡¯s in physical education from Kyungpook National University, Minister Kang in 1997 set up the IT company Winitech, which provides intellectual disaster prevention systems. Her work was widely recognized, and in 2005, she received numerous awards including the Prime Minister's Citation in the Venture Company Awards. In 2011, she was appointed to the Presidential Council on National Competitiveness, and a year later, she entered the National Assembly as a proportional representative of the Saenuri Party (formerly the GNP). In January this year, she was appointed as the fifth Minister of Gender Equality and Family.

Choi started his career as a scriptwriter, and is well-known as a "master of creative expression." Ahn Soo-hyun is a history major who entered the movie world by working for the marketing team of the film studio ShinCine. Due to the company¡¯s restructuring, she left Korea to study film theory in the U.S.. There, she made short films and grew closer to her dream of going into film production. After returning to Korea, she worked as a producer for the films "The Uninvited" and ¡°You're My Sunshine!" and then participated in the production of "Thirst" and "Hindsight." In 2009, she set up Caper Film with her husband, director Choi Dong-hoon, and went on to produce "The Thieves" and "Assassination," both of which attracted more than 10 million moviegoers.

Hang-joon Jang
Film director
Jang Hang-jun first grabbed the megaphone for the movie "Break Out" in 2002, and has since worked as a director, screenwriter and actor. A graduate of the Department of Theater at Seoul Institute of the Arts, he grew famous by starring not only in movies but also TV dramas and shows.
Together with his wife, scriptwriter Kim Eun-hee, Jang wrote dramas such as "Sign" and "Ghost" to blaze a new trail in the genre of investigation dramas. With his unique talking skills, he hosted TV entertainment shows to earn the nickname "a film director who¡¯s funnier than entertainers."

Cho Hee-jin has achieved many firsts in Korea¡¯s male-dominated prosecution world. As a member of the 19th graduating class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, she started her career as a prosecutor in 1990 at the Seoul District Prosecutor's Office. In a first for a female prosecutor, she was appointed a professor for would-be prosecutors at the institute, teaching those who passed the bar exam. In 2007, she became the country¡¯s first female chief prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office, the most important among public prosecutor positions. In 2009, she made history again as Korea¡¯s first woman to become an assistant prosecutor general, and last year, as the first female director of the Seoul prosecutor's office. In the world of Korean prosecutors, director of the prosecutor's office is an important position that is often called "the flower of prosecutors." Cho started her career as director of the Jeju District Prosecutor's Office and was then transferred to Uijeongbu this year.

Hyang-ja Yang

Yang Hyang-ja achieved two firsts when appointed a director at Samsung Electronics: the first non-college graduate and first woman. After graduating from Gwangju Girls' Commercial High School in 1986, she worked as a research assistant at the Semiconductor Memory Design Room of Samsung Electronics. Later, she was promoted to head of the DRAM/Flash Design Team of the company¡¯s Memory Business Department. In 2014, she was named a research commissioner whose rank is equivalent to a managing director. Because Yang started from the bottom, her promotion made headlines in and out of the company. As a successful director of a major company, she joined the Minjoo Party of Korea early this year. Though she lost by a narrow margin in the last general elections, she was elected to the party's Supreme Council in August.

Kim first drew attention after adding unique and modern expressions to traditional Korean ink wash drawings. In her works, women in traditional hanbok (traditional Korean costume) from the Joseon Dynasty ride motorcycles or eat tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cake) just like modern women. Surprising the art world with paintings never seen before, Kim was named an "artist worth paying attention to" at the Korean Art Critics Conference in 2014. In the same year, she opened a private exhibition titled "Prudish Olympics" at Gana Art Center, and sold all 13 of her exhibited works. Today, she seeks to introduce Korean paintings to the public through numerous lectures and media interviews.

In 1993, Kim Byeol-ah started her literary career with "The Sound of Wind Outside the Closed Door." In 2005, she released the full-length novel "Misil," which won the first World Literature Award. Kim has many interests in the life and history of women, and wrote "Chaehong," "Flower of Fire" and "Eo Wu-dong, Killed by Love," which are known as the "Trilogy of Joseon Dynasty Women." She also wrote "Nongae," "Baekbeom" and "Passionate Love," which reinterpret perceptions of real historical figures, to establish herself as a leading Korean writer. In her most recent novel released in August, Kim once again described an independent woman in history. "Tansil" is about Kim Myeong-sun, who is considered the first female novelist in the modern history of Korean literature.

As an expert in home appliances design, Song Hyun-ju supervises the general designs of everyday products for the Home Appliances Headquarters of Samsung Electronics. After entering Samsung in 1993, she became the first female designer selected as an overseas academic researcher. She studied sensibility ergonomics at Hiroshima University in Japan. Many successful products of Samsung were created by Song¡¯s hands, including the luxury kitchen product series Chef Collection, windless air conditioner Q9000, all-automatic laundry machine Active Wash and drum washer AddWash. Because she is a female designer and homemaker, Song has received acclaim for designing products based on her high understanding of and familiarity with everyday living and home-making activities.
